GZU Wins Gold Award in “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for Three Consecutive Years

On November 12, the GZU project “Exploration and Application of Innovative Agrochemical to Safeguard National Food Security” won the gold award in the 8th China International College Students’ “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. The project was completed by a team of 13 students, including Zhang Jian (doctoral student), Ma Qingqing (postgraduate) and Shang Menglong (undergraduate) from the Center for Research and Development of Fine Chemicals of Guizhou University(GZU), under the guidance of Song Bao’an (academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering), Song Runjiang, Li Yingfei and Zhang Xiaobin.

With the technology of natural product derivation and Scaffold Hopping, the project team successfully created a new meso-ionic compound “Isoxazole pyrimidine” which was rewarded a patent fee of 16 million yuan and has been applied nationwide. The team is committed to protecting national food security through Chinese technology, thus contributing to rural revitalization in the new era.

Another two projects won the silver award in the higher education group: “Special Livestock and Poultry Breeding Technology in Mountainous Areas” by Na Binbin, a postgraduate student from the College of Animal Science, and “Innovation and Application of New Green Herbicide Cypyrafluone” by Song Changxiong, a doctoral student from the Center for Research and Development of Fine Chemicals of GZU and Wang Yue, undergraduate student from the College of Music.

With concerted efforts, GZU won one gold, two silver and five bronze awards in this year's competition, winning gold award for three consecutive years.
