Mobilization Meeting for “Dabeinong Innovation Class” Held

On the morning of July 29, a mobilization meeting for the Dabeinong Innovation Class was held at the West Campus in preparation for their forthcoming study trip to the University of Cambridge. The meeting was attended by Academician Song Baoan, President of GZU, and Wang Jinrong, Vice President of GZU, along with relevant officials from the Office of Educational Administration, the Office of Student Affairs, the Office of International Relations, the Evaluation Center, College of Agriculture, and College of Chemical Engineering. All members of the visiting study group were also present. The meeting was chaired by Chen Xiangsheng,Vice President of GZU.

The Dabeinong Innovation Classof GZU was established through a generous personal donation from Dr. Shao Genhuo of DBN Group, leading to the creation of the DBN-GZU Development Fund in 2021. This fund aims to nurture top talents across four key disciplines: Plant Protection, Chemical Biology, Animal Science, and Computer Science and Technology. The training program selects exceptional students in their junior year for exchange studies at esteemed universities abroad. The upcoming visit of the Dabeinong Innovation Class to Oxford University marks a significant milestone, as it represents the first instance in which GZU has fully funded over 30 outstanding students to study at a world-class institution. This initiative not only reflects the universitys dedication to nurturing innovative talent with a keen sense of global awareness but also aims to enhance studentsresearch capabilities and their understanding of artificial intelligence applications in scientific inquiry.

Academician Song Baoan addressed the students with four essential recommendations. First, he urged them to cherish their academic opportunities and study diligently, emphasizing the importance of cultivating a diligent mindset and enhancing their knowledge through active participation in research projects. Second, he highlighted the importance of embracing diversity and engaging in meaningful communication, advocating for respect towards varying cultures and perspectives in order to foster harmonious coexistence. Third, he stressed the need to uphold propriety and adhere to regulations, advising students to be mindful of local laws and customs while studying abroad, thereby presenting a commendable image of Chinese students. Lastly, he encouraged them to achieve academic success and contribute to society, instilling a sense of national pride and promoting innovation. In essence, he called for continuous reflection on how to leverage their knowledge for personal growth and the advancement of the nation.
