2024 Guizhou International Conference on Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research, and Application Opens

On the afternoon of August 21, the 2024 International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research, and Application (Guizhou) opened at Guizhou University (GZU). Key attendees at the opening ceremony included Sun Mingchun, Director of the National Center for Schooling Development Programme of the Ministry of Education; Wang Hui, First-level Inspector of the Guizhou Provincial Department of Education; Choltis Dhirathiti, Executive Director of the ASEAN University Network; Vo Van Minh, President of Danang University of Education, Vietnam; Zhang Shaodong, President of Guizhou Normal University; Zhang Dalin, Vice President of GZU; Zhang Qiqing, academician of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and professor at Peking Union Medical College; Wu Hongwei, Vice President of The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; and Tang Yongke, Chairman of Shaanxi Pharmaceutical Holding Group. Hu Rui, Director of the Science and Technology Division of the Guizhou Provincial Department of Education, presided over the ceremony.

In his address, Sun Mingchun described the International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research, and Application as a “symphony” of open cooperation initiated by the education sector and jointly composed by universities, enterprises, and research institutes from various countries. He noted that the projects fostered through these exchanges would play a vital role in advancing educational cooperation and enhancing people-to-people exchanges among China and ASEAN countries. Looking ahead to new challenges and opportunities, Sun stressed the importance of staying committed to the mission of creating new frameworks for educational exchanges with Belt and Road countries. This will involve efforts in talent cultivation, scientific research, academic exchanges, and student and faculty visits, which are expected to deepen cooperation and integration and provide vigorous intellectual support for economic and social development.


Wang Hui emphasized that strengthening international cooperation and integration of industry, education, research, and application is key to advancing global education innovation, technological progress, and economic and social development. Since its inception, this conference has yielded increasingly fruitful results. She expressed hope that this year’s event would provide a platform for deeper exchanges and collaboration on advanced educational concepts, best practices, and cutting-edge applied technologies, while expanding educational openness. Participants, she hoped, can collectively shape a new blueprint for international education cooperation, share development achievements, and write a new chapter in the deep integration between industry, academia, research, and application, thereby fueling the high-quality development of education in Guizhou and contributing to the construction of a shared future for humanity.


Choltis Dhirathiti remarked that the conference’s active exploration of new models of international cooperation and integration will provide a strong boost to global scientific and technological innovation. He encouraged participants to work together and integrate resources to tackle the challenges of globalization, offering wisdom to resolve global and regional development issues. He noted that this collaboration would create a broader and more effective platform for China-ASEAN regional development.


Zhang Dalin provided an overview of GZU, emphasizing that as the leading academic institution in Guizhou, the university boasts first-class disciplines and a strong talent pool. He reiterated the university’s commitment to open education and its ongoing promotion of international exchanges and cooperation. He expressed hope that participants would use this conference to gather global wisdom, focus on talent cultivation, build world-class teams, engage in higher-level exchanges and cooperation, and strengthen the integration of innovation-driven strategies with industry, education, research, and application, ultimately fostering more open and higher-quality cooperation that benefits all parties.

Tang Yongke emphasized the strategic importance of the biopharmaceutical industry, noting its critical role in national security. He expressed hope for strengthened collaboration with GZU and various partners through this event, calling for leveraging new productive forces driven by technological innovation to empower the development of the biopharmaceutical industry.

During the opening ceremony, representatives from GZU’s Medical College signed cooperation agreements with Guiwang Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Guizhou Zhiguangyi Education Consulting Co., Ltd., Shaanxi Pharmaceutical Holding Group Co., Ltd., Guizhou Guiji Biotechnology Co., Ltd., Guizhou Natural Products Research Center, Wuhan Yuxiang Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd., Shenyang Aixela Biotechnology Trading Co., Ltd., Sinopharm Dezhong (Foshan) Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Guizhou Miaojiang Apiculture Technology Development Co., Ltd., and Guizhou Liangshan Tianma Industry Co., Ltd.

The conference, hosted by the Guizhou Provincial Department of Education and organized by the GZU’s Medical College, focused on biopharmaceutical innovation and the high-quality development of Guizhou’s pharmaceutical industry. Renowned scholars from universities and enterprises presented academic reports on the conference themes and participated in in-depth discussions on topics such as “High-Quality Development of Guizhou’s Biopharmaceutical Industry” and “High-Quality Talent Cultivation for Guizhou’s Pharmaceutical Industry”.
