Sino-Thai University Presidents Forum: Seminar on "Industrial Innovation and Talent Cultivation" Held

On the morning of August 23rd, the Sino-Thai University Presidents' Forum hosted a seminar on "Industrial Innovation and Talent Cultivation" at the ASEAN Forum Hall, the permanent venue for China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week in Guiyang. The event was attended by Pumpermsak Aruni, Director General of the Office of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation of Thailand; Montree Pongpan, President of the Thai Chinese Education Alliance (TCEA); Li Shiyu, Secretary General of the Chongqing Education Association for International Exchange; and Wang Xu, Vice President of Guizhou University. The seminar also featured renowned experts and scholars from China and abroad, along with representatives from various Chinese and ASEAN universities. Zhu Yugao, Secretary of the CPC Committee of Chongqing Youth Vocational and Technical College, and Dr. Manit Boonprasert, Secretary General of the Association of Private Higher Education Institutions of Thailand (APHEIT), presided over the meeting.

The seminar emphasized that openness creates opportunities and collaboration fosters vitality. The deepening economic ties between China and Thailand have generated a significant demand for talent, promoting exchanges and cooperation in the fields of humanities and education. This conference leveraged the platform of China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week to facilitate collaboration among universities, chambers of commerce, and associations from both countries. It aimed to gather resources, discuss partnerships, seek development opportunities, and promote mutual benefits. There is optimism that China and Thailand will engage in more in-depth cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, culture, education, and science and technology in the future. It is hoped that both nations will prioritize talent cultivation and international cooperation, contributing to the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand in 2025 and the establishment of a China-Thailand community of shared destiny.

Wang Xu highlighted the history of cooperation between Guizhou University and Thai universities, noting that in recent years, the university has actively embraced the opportunities presented by the "Belt and Road" initiative. Guizhou University has achieved significant breakthroughs in various areas of exchange and collaboration with Thai institutions, including faculty and student exchanges, research cooperation, educational assistance, joint programs, and international student training. Moving forward, Guizhou University aims to work closely with the Association for Thailand-China Education Alliance, utilizing the platform of China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week to further enhance high-level education and international exchanges, ultimately building a more developed, innovative, inclusive, and sustainable educational community.

During the meeting, keynote speeches were delivered by Peng Jisheng, Vice President of the Yunnan Education Association for International Exchange; Zhao Kang, President of the Guangdong Provincial Private Education Association; and leaders from Siam University, Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon, Chongqing Youth Vocational and Technical College, Bangkok University, Jiangxi Vocational College of Tourism and Commerce, Panyapiwat Institute of Management, and Jiangxi College of Engineering. Additionally, the Association for Thai-Chinese Education Alliance and the Education Associations for International Exchanges based in Chongqing and Yunnan signed a memorandum of cooperation, which included agreements for collaborative efforts among 11 colleges and universities.
